Biometric Consent Notice
Read this before you take a selfie. It explains the face template BSoura creates, what we do with it, how long we keep it, and how to say no.
In one paragraph
To find your photos, BSoura turns your selfie into a temporary face template (a numeric description of your facial features), compares it only against the photos from the one event you opened, shows you your matches, and then discards the template. If you confirm that a photo shows you, BSoura also compares your face in that event photo with the other faces in the same event's photos to find more photos of you. The selfie and search outcome are saved privately for administrator troubleshooting until the disclosed event expiry, or deleted earlier with the event's files. They are never sold, never used to advertise or profile you, and never used to identify you anywhere else. Taking the selfie is your choice — if you don't, no template is ever created.
What you are consenting to
To find your photos, BSoura converts the selfie you take into a face template — a numeric representation of your facial features. This face template is a biometric identifier. We create and use it only to match you to your photos at this one named event, and for nothing else.
How the match works
- You take or upload a selfie on the next screen — only if you choose to.
- We create a temporary face template from it, in memory.
- We compare that template against the templates of faces in this event's photos.
- We show your matching photos and discard the temporary face template. The submitted selfie and search outcome are saved for administrator troubleshooting until the event expires, or deleted earlier with the event's files.
- If you tap “Yes, that's me” on your best photo, we compare your face in that event photo with the other faces in this event's photos and add the photos that match it. This uses only the event photos' existing face templates: no new template is made from your selfie, nothing new is stored, and it never looks beyond this event.
What we will not do with it
- Use your face template for advertising or marketing.
- Use it to train AI models, or to build a profile of you.
- Use it to identify or match you across any other event or database.
- Sell it, or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Where it is stored, and when it is deleted
Your selfie is stored privately on BSoura’s own server in Lebanon for administrator troubleshooting. Its face template is processed in memory and never written to storage. Saved selfies and support history are excluded from app backups. This is the retention-and-destruction schedule, also published in our Privacy Policy:

Expired selfies cannot be viewed. Disk deletion runs every minute while the server is running and on startup; if it is offline or deletion fails, removal is retried when possible. Only authenticated administrators can view the retained selfie and search outcome.
Optional: let us use your selfie to test matching
On the consent screen there is a separate box, unticked by default. Only if you tick it may BSoura also use your saved selfie to test and improve how well it finds photos, for example by measuring whether different matching settings or engines would have found the right photos for you. Leaving it unticked does not change your search in any way.
- The testing happens only on BSoura's own server. Your selfie is never sent to an outside service.
- It is never shared, sold, published or used to train an AI model.
- It is deleted on the same schedule as above: with this event's files, at the expiry shown when you consent.
- You can withdraw this permission at any time by emailing us; your selfie is then no longer used for testing.
Who receives it
The face template is handled by BSoura and the hosting and face-matching providers that operate the service on our behalf under contract. It is not sold, and it is not shared with advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.
How to withdraw consent
Giving consent is optional — you only proceed if you choose to take a selfie. You can stop at any time simply by not searching, you can request removal of any photo you appear in, and you can contact us at hello@bsoura.app to withdraw or request early deletion of a saved selfie. Include the event and approximate search time so the administrator can find it. Withdrawing does not affect matching that already took place before you withdrew.
If you are in Illinois (written release)
Illinois BIPA disclosure
If you are using BSoura in Illinois, this notice is the written disclosure that BSoura collects and uses a biometric identifier and biometric information (your face template) for the purpose and for the duration described above. Providing the affirmative consent described below constitutes your written release for that collection and use under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act. BSoura's biometric retention-and-destruction schedule is the one set out above and published in our Privacy Policy. BSoura currently runs only at events in Lebanon and is not offered in Illinois, so in practice this section does not apply today.
Age
BSoura is for adults by default. Some events add an age confirmation to the consent screen: either you confirm you are 18 or older, or, where the event organiser (for example a school or university) has arranged a parent's or guardian's consent for visitors under 18, you confirm that you are 18 or older or that your parent or guardian has agreed through that organiser. The consent screen shows which rule applies, and no face template is created until you have confirmed it.
Your affirmative choice
You provide this consent by an explicit, affirmative action, tapping to agree on the consent screen (and, where the event requires it, ticking the age confirmation shown there), before your selfie is taken and before any face template is created. There is no pre-checked box and no "by continuing you agree": if you do not affirmatively agree, no face template is ever created.
This notice is version 2026-10-27-find-more-of-me. When you consent in the app, we record the version you accepted, so there is a clear record of exactly which release you agreed to. Questions: hello@bsoura.app.
